70% of Heineken consumers stay at home, away from the pub and not drinking during European Cup Final games. So our task was to somehow increase Heineken product consumption and brand engagement in the home during European Cup Final games.
We came up with Star Player, the world’s first dual-screen live-play interactive football game – making watching live TV a social experience. Playable on PC, tablet or mobile platforms, the aim of the game is to anticipate the outcome of key match moments in real time. Just like you would with your mates down the pub. Start a team with your friends and play other teams, or on your own against other football fans and try and make your way to the top of the global league table.
Heineken star player been hailed as an industry game-changer and one of AKQA’s most awarded projects ever, netting to date nineteen awards including a D&AD Yellow Pencil and a Gold at Cannes Cyber Lions.
